Maria De Maetzu (2023)(Silver)

On the occasion of International Women's Day, and paying tribute to the educator and humanist María de Maeztu, the Royal Mint is issuing a new sterling silver collector's coin dedicated to a woman who championed the fight for women's education, which would lead to equality and freedom.

The obverse features a portrait of His Majesty King Felipe VI.

On the reverse of the coin appears the image "María de Maeztu, doctor honoris causa by Smith College, 1919," which is preserved in the Archive of the Women's Residence (José Ortega y Gasset-Gregorio Marañón Foundation); to its left, the symbol of a woman, the face value of 10 euros, and the mint mark. Surrounding these motifs and legends are the words "8-M International Women's Day" and "María de Maeztu."
